The Brief:
Design a bottle holder for the Milwaukee Packout Toolbox for my brother-in-law.
It needs to attach to the fixed verticals of the handle. (See image #1)
Cannot drill holes through the fixed verticals as the extension arms slide through the tubes
Must utilize a 3D printer to create the final product.

THE DESIGN:
There are two ways to secure the accessory attachment to the verticals, 1. Bolt the two halves together capturing the vertical tube. 2. A snap on design to quickly attach or detach from the toolbox, hardware not required.
My niece recently got herself a digital calipers to go with her 3D printer so an exercise to learn 3D modeling we decided to have fun with it, utilize the flexible nature of plastic, and we proceeded with #2.
STEP 1:
Transfer the Fixed Verticals into 3D. (Fusion 360)

STEP TWO:
Model the Clip and Test the fit.

STEP THREE:
Refine, Refine, Refine.

STEP FOUR:
User test to determine if the design needs more tweaking.
I had to leave town before John got himself a bicycle bottle holder and use it as intended so we will find out if we need to make any adjustments to the final product when he does.
Reflection:
After doing some research, although it is very niche, there appears to be a market for Packout Accessory Mods, none done this way so maybe this could be I 3d print and sell or potentially figure out a licensing agreement with a company that prodcue and sells these types of accessories?
Could be interesting.
Standby for more updates. 👍
